Bill Title: Amends the Illinois Drainage Code. Provides that each commissioner of a drainage district shall receive for the commissioner's services either (i) a sum not to exceed $30 per day for each day the commissioner is actually engaged in the business of the commissioner's office or (ii) a fixed monthly payment in an amount that is set by the county board and that does not exceed $30 multiplied by the number of business days in the applicable month (rather than a sum not to exceed $30 per day for each day the commissioner is actually engaged in the business of the commissioner's office).

| 1 | AN ACT concerning local government. | |||||||||||||||||||
| 2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, | |||||||||||||||||||
| 3 | represented in the General Assembly: | |||||||||||||||||||
| 4 | Section 5. The Illinois Drainage Code is amended by | |||||||||||||||||||
| 5 | changing Section 4-13 as follows: | |||||||||||||||||||
| 6 | (70 ILCS 605/4-13) (from Ch. 42, par. 4-13) | |||||||||||||||||||
| 7 | Sec. 4-13. Pay of commissioners. | |||||||||||||||||||
| 8 | (a) Each commissioner shall receive for the commissioner's | |||||||||||||||||||
| 9 | his services either (i) a sum not to exceed $30 per day for | |||||||||||||||||||
| 10 | each day the commissioner he is actually engaged in the | |||||||||||||||||||
| 11 | business of the commissioner's his office or (ii) a fixed | |||||||||||||||||||
| 12 | monthly payment in an amount that is set by the county board | |||||||||||||||||||
| 13 | and that does not exceed $30 multiplied by the number of | |||||||||||||||||||
| 14 | business days in the applicable month. In addition, the | |||||||||||||||||||
| 15 | commissioner , and he shall be reimbursed for the | |||||||||||||||||||
| 16 | commissioner's his necessary traveling and other expenses | |||||||||||||||||||
| 17 | incurred in the performance of the commissioner's his duties. | |||||||||||||||||||
| 18 | Each commissioner shall present to the court an itemized | |||||||||||||||||||
| 19 | account, under oath, of his claim for services and expenses, | |||||||||||||||||||
| 20 | which shall be audited by the court and certified by it to the | |||||||||||||||||||
| 21 | treasurer of the district for payment. | |||||||||||||||||||
| 22 | (b) The changes this amendatory Act of the 104th General | |||||||||||||||||||
| 23 | Assembly makes to the compensation of commissioners only apply | |||||||||||||||||||

| 1 | to commissioners that begin their terms after the effective | ||||||
| 2 | date this amendatory Act of the 104th General Assembly. | ||||||
