415 ILCS 5/22.03 new

Amends the Environmental Protection Act. Allows the Environmental Protection Agency to establish a voluntary take back program for local fire departments that use and store older firefighting foam made with perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT concerning safety.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Environmental Protection Act is amended by
5adding Section 22.03 as follows:
6 (415 ILCS 5/22.03 new)
7 Sec. 22.03. Voluntary PFAS take back program. The Agency
8may establish a voluntary take back program for local fire
9departments that use and store older firefighting foam made
10with perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances, also known
11as PFAS.
12 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
13becoming law.
