Bill Title: Amends the Department of Human Services Act. Requires the Department of Human Services to establish a Public Benefits Fraud Prevention Unit. Provides that the Unit shall investigate the misuse of State and federal funds distributed by the Department. Provides that money saved by the Department through its investigations shall be used to fund the Unit's activities. Effective immediately.

20 ILCS 1305/10-75 new

1 AN ACT concerning State government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Department of Human Services Act is amended
5by adding Section 10-75 as follows:
6 (20 ILCS 1305/10-75 new)
7 Sec. 10-75. Public Benefits Fraud Prevention Unit. The
8Department shall establish a Public Benefits Fraud Prevention
9Unit. The Unit shall investigate the misuse of State and
10federal funds distributed by the Department. Money saved by the
11Department through its investigations shall be used to fund the
12Unit's activities.
13 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
14becoming law.
