AN ACT concerning veterans.
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
represented in the General Assembly:
Section 5. The Veterans' Employment Act is amended by
adding Section 8 as follows:
(330 ILCS 25/8 new)
Sec. 8. Paid leave. Beginning on January 1, 2011, all
veterans of the United States armed forces, who served under
any branch of the military, shall be granted paid leave to
attend the funerals of other veterans. The benefits under this
Section shall apply to all veterans regardless of time of
service. For purposes of this Section, "veteran" means an
Illinois resident who is a veteran as defined in subsection (h)
of Section 1491 of Title 10 of the United States Code.
Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect January
1, 2011.
