| 1 | AN ACT concerning transportation.
| ||||||
| 2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, | ||||||
| 3 | represented in the General Assembly:
| ||||||
| 4 | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding | ||||||
| 5 | Section 3-699.14 as follows:
| ||||||
| 6 | (625 ILCS 5/3-699.14 new) | ||||||
| 7 | Sec. 3-699.14. World War II Illinois Veterans Memorial | ||||||
| 8 | license plates. | ||||||
| 9 | (a) The Secretary, upon receipt of all applicable fees and | ||||||
| 10 | applications made in the form prescribed by the Secretary, may | ||||||
| 11 | issue special registration plates designated as World War II | ||||||
| 12 | Illinois Veterans Memorial license plates. The special plates | ||||||
| 13 | issued under this Section shall be affixed only to passenger | ||||||
| 14 | vehicles of the first division or motor vehicles of the second | ||||||
| 15 | division weighing not more than 8,000 pounds. Plates issued | ||||||
| 16 | under this Section shall expire according to the multi-year | ||||||
| 17 | procedure established by Section 3-414.1 of this Code. | ||||||
| 18 | (b) The design and color of the special plates shall be | ||||||
| 19 | wholly within the discretion of the Secretary. The Secretary | ||||||
| 20 | may allow the plates to be issued as vanity or personalized | ||||||
| 21 | plates under Section 3-405.1 of this Code. The Secretary shall | ||||||
| 22 | prescribe stickers or decals as provided under Section 3-412 of | ||||||
| 23 | this Code, with the exception that the plates are not required | ||||||

| 1 | to designate "Land of Lincoln". | ||||||
| 2 | (c) An applicant for the special plate shall be charged a | ||||||
| 3 | $40 fee for original issuance in addition to the appropriate | ||||||
| 4 | registration fee. Of this fee, $25 shall be deposited into the | ||||||
| 5 | World War II Illinois Veterans Memorial Fund and $15 shall be | ||||||
| 6 | deposited into the Secretary of State Special License Plate | ||||||
| 7 | Fund, to be used by the Secretary to help defray the | ||||||
| 8 | administrative processing costs. For each registration renewal | ||||||
| 9 | period, a $27 fee, in addition to the appropriate registration | ||||||
| 10 | fee, shall be charged. Of this fee, $25 shall be deposited into | ||||||
| 11 | the World War II Illinois Veterans Memorial Fund and $2 shall | ||||||
| 12 | be deposited into the Secretary of State Special License Plate | ||||||
| 13 | Fund.
