Bill Title: Amends the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Article of the Illinois Public Aid Code. Provides that no person shall knowingly use cash assistance benefits provided under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Program for the payment of bail ordered by a court. Provides that any person who fails to comply with this provision is subject to immediate termination of his or her benefits.

SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
305 ILCS 5/4-8a new

Amends the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Article of the Illinois Public Aid Code. Provides that no person shall knowingly use cash assistance benefits provided under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Program for the payment of bail ordered by a court. Provides that any person who fails to comply with this provision is subject to immediate termination of his or her benefits.

1 AN ACT concerning public aid.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by
5adding Section 4-8a as follows:
6 (305 ILCS 5/4-8a new)
7 Sec. 4-8a. Prohibited use of cash assistance. No person
8shall knowingly use cash assistance benefits provided under
9this Article for the payment of bail ordered by a court. Any
10person who fails to comply with this Section is subject to
11immediate termination of his or her benefits.
