Bill Title: Amends the Higher Education Student Assistance Act. In a Section concerning a police officer or fire officer survivor grant, provides that, with respect to disabled police and fire officers, natural children need not be born before the disability occurred in order to receive the grant. Effective immediately.

AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 5039
AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 5039 as follows:
on page 1, line 7, by replacing "Police officer or fire
officer" with "Police officer, or fire officer, or paramedic";
and
on page 1, line 9, after "of", by inserting "(i)"; and
on page 1, line 13, after "State", by inserting "or (ii)
paramedics killed or permanently disabled with 90% to 100%
disability in the line of duty while employed by a municipality
in this State"; and
on page 1, line 15, after "officers", by inserting "and
disabled paramedics".
