1 AN ACT concerning health.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Mental Health and Developmental
5 Disabilities Code is amended by changing Section 1-106 as
6 follows:
7 (405 ILCS 5/1-106) (from Ch. 91 1/2, par. 1-106)
8 Sec. 1-106. "Developmental disability" means a disability
9 which is attributable to: (a) mental retardation, cerebral
10 palsy, epilepsy or autism; or to (b) any other condition which
11 results in impairment similar to that that caused by mental
12 retardation and which requires services similar to those
13 required by mentally retarded persons. Such disability must
14 originate before the age of 18 years, be expected to continue
15 indefinitely, and constitute a substantial handicap.
