Provides that the Department of Transportation and the Illinois State Police shall conduct a study on the impact of bright and LED lights on emergency vehicles. Provides that the Department shall submit a report of its findings and recommendations to the General Assembly by January 1, 2021. Effective immediately.

SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
20 ILCS 2705/2705-620 new

Amends the Department of Transportation Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that the Department of Transportation and the Illinois State Police shall conduct a study on the impact of bright and LED lights on emergency vehicles. Provides that the Department shall submit a report of its findings and recommendations to the General Assembly by January 1, 2021. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT concerning State government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Department of Transportation Law of the
5Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is amended by adding
6Section 2705-620 as follows:
7 (20 ILCS 2705/2705-620 new)
8 Sec. 2705-620. Bright and LED lights on emergency vehicles
9study. The Department and the Illinois State Police shall
10conduct a study on the impact of bright and LED lights on
11emergency vehicles. The Department shall submit a report of its
12findings and recommendations to the General Assembly by January
131, 2021. This Section is repealed on January 1, 2022.
14 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
15becoming law.
