Bill Title: Amends the Legislative Commission Reorganization Act of 1984. Requires the Architect of the Capitol to take actions necessary to provide for the replacement and unveiling of the Martin Luther King Jr. statue. Provides that prior to the placement of the statue at the Capitol, the Architect of the Capitol shall issue a report detailing his or her actions in identifying a new location on the grounds of the Capitol and a future replacing of the statue. Provides that the report shall be delivered to the Governor and the General Assembly.

SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
25 ILCS 130/8A-22 new

Amends the Legislative Commission Reorganization Act of 1984. 1 AN ACT concerning State government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Legislative Commission Reorganization Act
5of 1984 is amended by adding Section 8A-22 as follows:
6 (25 ILCS 130/8A-22 new)
7 Sec. 8A-22. Martin Luther King Jr. statue.
8 (a) The Architect of the Capitol, at the direction of the
9Board of the Office of the Architect of the Capitol, shall take
10actions necessary to provide for the replacement and unveiling
11of the Martin Luther King Jr. statue within a reasonable period
12of time after the effective date of this amendatory Act of the
13101st General Assembly.
14 (b) Prior to the placement of the statue at the Capitol,
15the Architect of the Capitol shall issue a report detailing his
16or her actions in identifying a new location on the grounds of
17the Capitol and a future replacing of the statue. The report
18shall be delivered to the Governor and the General Assembly.
