Bill Title: Amends the Election Code. Provides that a person who is 17 years old on the date of a consolidated primary election is qualified to vote at that primary if he or she will be 18 years old on the date of the immediately following regular election (now, general election). Effective immediately.

AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 4276
2 AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 4276 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
4 "Section 5. The Election Code is amended by changing
5Section 3-6 as follows:
6 (10 ILCS 5/3-6)
7 Sec. 3-6. Voting age. Notwithstanding any other provision
8of law, a person who is 17 years old on the date of a
9nonpartisan primary, consolidated primary, or general primary
10election and who is otherwise qualified to vote is qualified to
11vote at that primary, including voting an absentee, grace
12period, or early voting ballot with respect to that primary, if
13that person will be 18 years old on the date of the immediately
14following consolidated election (including any supplementary
15election) or general election, as the case may be.

1that a person must be 18 years old to vote shall be interpreted
2in accordance with this Section.
3 For the purposes of this Act, an individual who is 17 years
4of age and who will be 18 years of age on the date of the
5general election shall be deemed competent to execute and
6attest to any voter registration forms.
