| 1 | AN ACT concerning regulation.
| |||||||||||||||||||
| 2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| |||||||||||||||||||
| 3 | represented in the General Assembly:
| |||||||||||||||||||
| 4 | Section 5. The Meat and Poultry Inspection Act is amended | |||||||||||||||||||
| 5 | by changing Section 19 as follows:
| |||||||||||||||||||
| 6 | (225 ILCS 650/19) (from Ch. 56 1/2, par. 319)
| |||||||||||||||||||
| 7 | Sec. 19. Criminal offenses.
| |||||||||||||||||||
| 8 | A. Any person
who forcibly assaults, resists, opposes, | |||||||||||||||||||
| 9 | impedes,
intimidates, or interferes with any person while | |||||||||||||||||||
| 10 | engaged in or on account
of the performance of his official | |||||||||||||||||||
| 11 | duties under this Act shall be guilty of
a Class A misdemeanor.

| 12 | B. Any person, firm, or corporation, or any agent or | |||||||||||||||||||
| 13 | employee of any
person, firm, or corporation, who gives, pays, | |||||||||||||||||||
| 14 | or offers, directly or
indirectly, to any inspector or any
| |||||||||||||||||||
| 15 | other officer or employee of this State authorized to perform | |||||||||||||||||||
| 16 | any of the
duties prescribed by this Act or by the rules and | |||||||||||||||||||
| 17 | regulations of the
Director, any money or other thing of value, | |||||||||||||||||||
| 18 | with intent to influence such
inspector or other officer or | |||||||||||||||||||
| 19 | employee
of this State in the discharge of his duty, is guilty | |||||||||||||||||||
| 20 | of a Class 4 felony.
| |||||||||||||||||||
| 21 | B-5. Any inspector or other
officer
or
employee of this | |||||||||||||||||||
| 22 | State authorized to perform any of the duties prescribed
by | |||||||||||||||||||
| 23 | this Act who accepts any money, gift, or other thing of value | |||||||||||||||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | from any
person, firm, or corporation, or officers, agents, or | ||||||
| 2 | employees thereof,
given with intent to influence his official | ||||||
| 3 | action, or who receives or
accepts from any person, firm, or | ||||||
| 4 | corporation any gift, money, or other
thing of value given with | ||||||
| 5 | any purpose of intent whatsoever, is guilty of a
Class 4 | ||||||
| 6 | felony.
| ||||||
| 7 | C. Any person violating any provision of this Act or any | ||||||
| 8 | rule or
regulation established hereunder, is guilty of a Class
| ||||||
| 9 | A misdemeanor.
| ||||||
| 10 | D. Any person who sells or offers for sale or transports | ||||||
| 11 | meat or poultry
products that are unsound, unhealthful, | ||||||
| 12 | unwholesome, adulterated, or otherwise
unfit for human food or | ||||||
| 13 | which have not been inspected and passed by
Department, | ||||||
| 14 | federal, or recognized municipal inspection, with the | ||||||
| 15 | exception of bison and elk meat imported from Canada, knowing | ||||||
| 16 | that such meat
or poultry products are intended for human | ||||||
| 17 | consumption, is guilty of a Class A
misdemeanor.
