AN ACT concerning transportation.
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
represented in the General Assembly:
Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding
Section 18c-7401.2 as follows:
(625 ILCS 5/18c-7401.2 new)
Sec. 18c-7401.2. Adequate illumination levels required in
railroad switching yards. All railroad switching yards where
trains are made up or broken down by any form of switching
shall have a sufficient level of illumination for the period
between sunset and sunrise. The illumination level must, at a
minimum, meet or exceed national standards for rail yards
according to the Illuminating Engineering Society of North
America.
Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect January
1, 2014.
