| 1 | AN ACT concerning regulation.
| |||||||||||||||||||
| 2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| |||||||||||||||||||
| 3 | represented in the General Assembly:
| |||||||||||||||||||
| 4 | Section 5. The Public Utilities Act is amended by changing | |||||||||||||||||||
| 5 | Section 8-101 as follows:
| |||||||||||||||||||

| 7 | Sec. 8-101. Duties of public utilities; nondiscrimination. | |||||||||||||||||||
| 8 | A
public utility shall furnish, provide, and
and maintain such
| |||||||||||||||||||
| 9 | service instrumentalities, equipment, and facilities as shall | |||||||||||||||||||
| 10 | promote the
safety, health, comfort, and convenience of its | |||||||||||||||||||
| 11 | patrons, employees, and
public and as shall be in all respects | |||||||||||||||||||
| 12 | adequate, efficient, just, and
reasonable. | |||||||||||||||||||
| 13 | All rules and regulations made by a public utility | |||||||||||||||||||
| 14 | affecting or
pertaining to its charges or service to the public | |||||||||||||||||||
| 15 | shall be just and
reasonable.
| |||||||||||||||||||
| 16 | A public utility shall, upon reasonable notice, furnish to | |||||||||||||||||||
| 17 | all
persons who may apply therefor and be reasonably entitled | |||||||||||||||||||
| 18 | thereto, suitable
facilities and service, without | |||||||||||||||||||
| 19 | discrimination and without delay.
| |||||||||||||||||||
| 20 | Nothing in this Section shall be construed to prevent a | |||||||||||||||||||
| 21 | public utility from
accepting payment electronically or by the | |||||||||||||||||||
| 22 | use of a customer-preferred
financially accredited credit or | |||||||||||||||||||
| 23 | debit methodology.
