| 1 | AN ACT concerning local government.
| |||||||||||||||||||
| 2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, | |||||||||||||||||||
| 3 | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | Section 5. The Township Code is amended by changing Section | |||||||||||||||||||
| 5 | 5-55 as follows:

| 7 | Sec. 5-55. Duplicate township names. If the
the Secretary | |||||||||||||||||||
| 8 | of State, on comparing
the abstracts of the reports from the | |||||||||||||||||||
| 9 | several counties, finds that any 2 or
more townships are named | |||||||||||||||||||
| 10 | alike, he shall so inform the clerk of the county
which last | |||||||||||||||||||
| 11 | adopted the name. The county board of that county shall, at its | |||||||||||||||||||
| 12 | next
meeting, adopt for the township some different name. When | |||||||||||||||||||
| 13 | the name is adopted,
the county clerk shall inform the | |||||||||||||||||||
| 14 | Secretary of State as provided in Section
