Bill Title: Amends the Medical Assistance Article of the Illinois Public Aid Code. Provides that in addition to post-parturition care, the medical assistance program shall provide not less than 60 days of follow-up care for persons who have been diagnosed during their pregnancy with gestational diabetes, and that this follow-up care shall include testing for continuing diabetes.

SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
305 ILCS 5/5-16.7

Amends the Medical Assistance Article of the Illinois Public Aid Code. Provides that in addition to post-parturition care, the medical assistance program shall provide not less than 60 days of follow-up care for persons who have been diagnosed during their pregnancy with gestational diabetes, and that this follow-up care shall include testing for continuing diabetes.

1 AN ACT concerning public aid.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by
5changing Section 5-16.7 as follows:
6 (305 ILCS 5/5-16.7)
7 Sec. 5-16.7. Post-parturition care. The medical assistance
8program shall provide the post-parturition care benefits
9required to be covered by a policy of accident and health
10insurance under Section 356s of the Illinois Insurance Code.
11Additionally, the program shall provide not less than 60 days
12of follow-up care for persons who have been diagnosed during
13their pregnancy with gestational diabetes. This follow-up care
14shall include testing for continuing diabetes.
