Bill Title: Amends the Medical Assistance Article of the Illinois Public Aid Code. Provides that in addition to post-parturition care, the medical assistance program shall provide not less than 60 days of follow-up care for persons who have been diagnosed during their pregnancy with gestational diabetes, and that this follow-up care shall include testing for continuing diabetes.

Amends the Medical Assistance Article of the Illinois Public Aid Code. AN ACT concerning public aid.
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
represented in the General Assembly:
Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by
changing Section 5-16.7 as follows:
(305 ILCS 5/5-16.7)
Sec. 5-16.7. Post-parturition care. The medical assistance
program shall provide the post-parturition care benefits
required to be covered by a policy of accident and health
insurance under Section 356s of the Illinois Insurance Code.
Additionally, the program shall provide not less than 60 days
of follow-up care for persons who have been diagnosed during
their pregnancy with gestational diabetes. This follow-up care
shall include testing for continuing diabetes.
