Requires the Department of Corrections to establish an in-house registry of nurses classified as Corrections Nurse I or Corrections Nurse II for the purpose of improving staffing levels to minimize or eliminate the use of mandatory overtime at State-operated facilities. Effective January 1, 2014.

AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 3092
2 AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 3092 on page 1, line
38, by replacing "An" with "As part of the Nurse Registry Pilot
4Program established under Section 3-2-2.3 of the Unified Code
5of Corrections, an"; and
6on page 3, line 3, by replacing "In-house nurses registry."
7with "Nurse Registry Pilot Program."; and
8on page 3, by replacing lines 4 through 8 with the following:
9 "(a) Beginning on the effective date of this amendatory Act
10of the 98th General Assembly, for the purpose of improving
11staffing levels to minimize or eliminate the use of mandatory
12overtime at the Decatur Correctional Center and the Vandalia
13Correctional Center, the Department shall establish a 2-year
14nurse registry pilot program for nurses classified as
15Corrections Nurse I or Corrections Nurse II. The registry: (1)
16shall not be used to replace"; and

1on page 4, line 26, by replacing "the Department of
2Corrections" with "the Decatur Correctional Center or the
3Vandalia Correctional Center"; and
4on page 5, by replacing lines 3 and 4 with the following:
