| 1 | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2549

| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2549 by replacing | ||||||
| 3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following:

| 4 | "Section 5. The Township Code is amended by adding Section | ||||||
| 5 | 85-65 as follows:
| ||||||
| 6 | (60 ILCS 1/85-65 new) | ||||||
| 7 | Sec. 85-65. Animal control. If a county has not exercised | ||||||
| 8 | its authority under the Animal Control Act in unincorporated | ||||||
| 9 | areas of the county where a township is located, the township | ||||||
| 10 | board may request the assistance of the county sheriff when one | ||||||
| 11 | or more complaints are received by the township in regard to | ||||||
| 12 | potential violations of the Animal Control Act. The sheriff and | ||||||
| 13 | all sheriff's deputies shall cooperate with the township | ||||||
| 14 | board's request.

| 15 | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon | ||||||
