Bill Title: Amends the School Code. Requires the State Board of Education to establish and administer an Organic Farming at Schools Grant Program. Provides that under the program, the State Board shall award grants, subject to appropriation, to school districts for the creation and support of organic farming at schools programs. Effective July 1, 2009.

AN ACT concerning education.
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
represented in the General Assembly:
Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
2-3.148 as follows:
(105 ILCS 5/2-3.148 new)
Sec. 2-3.148. Organic Farming at Schools Grant Program. The
State Board of Education shall establish and administer an
Organic Farming at Schools Grant Program. Under the program,
the State Board shall award grants, subject to appropriation,
to school districts for the creation and support of organic
farming at schools programs. The State Board may adopt any
rules necessary to implement this Section.
Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1,
2009.
