Bill Title: Amends the Illinois Municipal Code. Provides that in the case of a disputed issue, airports for municipalities of 500,000 or more shall work with all interested parties, including but not limited to the State's public utilities, to reach a resolution.

1 | AN ACT concerning local government.
| |||||||||||||||||||
2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| |||||||||||||||||||
3 | represented in the General Assembly:
| |||||||||||||||||||
4 | Section 1. Findings. The General Assembly makes the | |||||||||||||||||||
5 | following findings: | |||||||||||||||||||
6 | (1) Public safety at O'Hare International Airport and | |||||||||||||||||||
7 | Midway International Airport is of the utmost importance. | |||||||||||||||||||
8 | (2) Ensuring safe and reliable operations at O'Hare and | |||||||||||||||||||
9 | Midway also protects the economic interests of the citizens | |||||||||||||||||||
10 | of this State. | |||||||||||||||||||
11 | (3) In order to ensure continued safe and reliable | |||||||||||||||||||
12 | operations, O'Hare and Midway should be encouraged to work | |||||||||||||||||||
13 | with interested parties, including the State's public | |||||||||||||||||||
14 | utilities, to reach mutually agreeable resolutions of | |||||||||||||||||||
15 | disputed issues.

16 | Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by adding | |||||||||||||||||||
17 | Section 11-102-20 as follows:

19 | Sec. 11-102-20. Resolutions of disputed issues. In the case | |||||||||||||||||||
20 | of a disputed issue, airports for municipalities of 500,000 or | |||||||||||||||||||
21 | more shall work with all interested parties, including but not | |||||||||||||||||||
22 | limited to the State's public utilities, to reach a resolution.
