1 AN ACT concerning criminal law.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The State Appellate Defender Act is amended by
5changing Section 6 as follows:
6 (725 ILCS 105/6) (from Ch. 38, par. 208-6)
7 Sec. 6. Powers and and Duties of Commission.
8 (a) The commission shall advise the State Appellate
9Defender and may, subject to rules of the Supreme Court,
10recommend policies for the operation of the office of State
11Appellate Defender.
12 (b) The commission shall approve or modify an operational
13budget submitted to it by the State Appellate Defender and set
14the number of employees each year.
15 (c) The commission may recommend to the Supreme Court the
16removal of the State Appellate Defender if the commission has
17reasonable grounds for making such recommendation.
18 (d) The commission shall exercise such other powers and
19duties as the Supreme Court by rule may provide.
20 (e) The State Appellate Defender shall submit reports to
21the commission on the operation of his office at each
22semi-annual meeting. He shall submit a comprehensive report to
23the commission at the end of each fiscal year. The commission

1may require the State Appellate Defender to submit additional
2or amended reports on any phase of the operation of his office.
