1 | AN ACT concerning local government.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, | |||||||||||||||||||
3 | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | Section 5. The Township Code is amended by changing Section | |||||||||||||||||||
5 | 30-140 as follows:

7 | Sec. 30-140. Regulation of certain occupations. In | |||||||||||||||||||
8 | counties with a
population of less than 3,000,000, the
the | |||||||||||||||||||
9 | electors may regulate hawkers, peddlers,
pawnbrokers, | |||||||||||||||||||
10 | itinerant merchants, and transient vendors of merchandise. The
| |||||||||||||||||||
11 | township board in those counties may require that any such | |||||||||||||||||||
12 | person register his
or her name and the name of any firm he or | |||||||||||||||||||
13 | she represents with the township
clerk and may make reasonable | |||||||||||||||||||
14 | restrictions of the hours during which he or she
may engage in | |||||||||||||||||||
15 | door-to-door solicitation. The township board in those | |||||||||||||||||||
16 | counties
also may prohibit the activities of any categories of | |||||||||||||||||||
17 | persons as it determines
to be in the best interest of township | |||||||||||||||||||
18 | residents. Any regulation under this
Section shall not apply | |||||||||||||||||||
19 | within the boundaries of a city, village, or
