Bill Title: Amends the Firearm Owners Identification Card Act. Provides that on or after the effective date of the amendatory Act, a person or place of business who sells ammunition to any person in this State shall maintain records for each transaction that includes the: (1) date of the transaction; (2) purchaser's name and date of birth; (3) purchaser's address; (4) purchaser's Firearm Owner's Identification Card information; and (5) ammunition amount, caliber, manufacturer's name and serial number, or other distinguishing information. Requires the person or place of business to submit each record within 7 days of the transaction to the Department of State Police. Provides that each person or place or business shall have a record book maintained on the premises and made available for inspection by any law enforcement officer. Requires the Department of State Police to establish and maintain a searchable database which contains these ammunition records.

| 1 | AN ACT concerning safety.
| |||||||||||||||||||
| 2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| |||||||||||||||||||
| 3 | represented in the General Assembly:
| |||||||||||||||||||
| 4 | Section 5. The Firearm Owners Identification Card Act is | |||||||||||||||||||
| 5 | amended by adding Section 3.4 as follows:
| |||||||||||||||||||
| 6 | (430 ILCS 65/3.4 new) | |||||||||||||||||||
| 7 | Sec. 3.4. Ammunition sales; record keeping. | |||||||||||||||||||
| 8 | (a) On or after the effective date of this amendatory Act | |||||||||||||||||||
| 9 | of the 101st General Assembly, a person or place of business | |||||||||||||||||||
| 10 | who sells ammunition to any person in this State shall maintain | |||||||||||||||||||
| 11 | records for each transaction that includes the: | |||||||||||||||||||
| 12 | (1) date of the transaction; | |||||||||||||||||||
| 13 | (2) purchaser's name and date of birth; | |||||||||||||||||||
| 14 | (3) purchaser's address; | |||||||||||||||||||
| 15 | (4) purchaser's Firearm Owner's Identification Card | |||||||||||||||||||
| 16 | information; and | |||||||||||||||||||
| 17 | (5) ammunition amount, caliber, manufacturer's name | |||||||||||||||||||

| 19 | (b) The person or place of business shall submit each | |||||||||||||||||||
