Bill Title: Amends the School Code. Provides that a school board does not have to comply with the Illinois Accessibility Code with respect to accessibility to press boxes that are 1,000 square feet or less and that are on school property.

| 1 | AN ACT concerning education.
| ||||||
| 2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| ||||||
| 3 | represented in the General Assembly:
| ||||||
| 4 | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections | ||||||
| 5 | 10-20.46, 22-50, and 34-18.37 as follows:
| ||||||
| 6 | (105 ILCS 5/10-20.46 new) | ||||||
| 7 | Sec. 10-20.46. Press boxes; accessibility. A school board | ||||||
| 8 | does not have to comply with the Illinois Accessibility Code | ||||||
| 9 | (71 Ill. Adm. Code 400) with respect to accessibility to press | ||||||
| 10 | boxes that are on school property if the press boxes were | ||||||
| 11 | constructed before the effective date of this amendatory Act of | ||||||
| 12 | the 96th General Assembly.

| 13 | (105 ILCS 5/22-50 new)
| ||||||
| 14 | Sec. 22-50. Illinois Accessibility Task Force. | ||||||
| 15 | (a) The Illinois Accessibility Task Force is created to | ||||||
| 16 | recommend any necessary revisions to the Illinois | ||||||
| 17 | Accessibility Code (71 Ill. Adm. Code 400) to comply with the | ||||||
| 18 | federal Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 with respect to | ||||||
| 19 | public school property. | ||||||
| 20 | (b) The task force shall consist of the following members: | ||||||
| 21 | (1) One member appointed by the President of the | ||||||
| 22 | Senate. | ||||||

| 1 | (2) One member appointed by the Minority Leader of the | ||||||
| 2 | Senate. | ||||||
| 3 | (3) One member appointed by the Speaker of the House of | ||||||
| 4 | Representatives. | ||||||
| 5 | (4) One member appointed by the Minority Leader of the | ||||||
| 6 | House of Representatives. | ||||||
| 7 | (5) The Executive Director of the Capital Development | ||||||
| 8 | Board or his or her designee. | ||||||
| 9 | (6) The Attorney General or his or her designee. | ||||||
| 10 | (7) A representative of a statewide association | ||||||
| 11 | representing school boards appointed by the Executive | ||||||
| 12 | Director of the Capital Development Board. | ||||||
| 13 | (8) A representative of a statewide association | ||||||
| 14 | representing regional superintendents of schools appointed | ||||||
| 15 | by the Executive Director of the Capital Development Board. | ||||||
| 16 | (9) A representative of a statewide coalition of | ||||||
| 17 | citizens with disabilities appointed by the Executive | ||||||
| 18 | Director of the Capital Development Board. | ||||||
| 19 | (c) The Capital Development Board shall provide | ||||||
| 20 | administrative and other support to the task force. | ||||||
| 21 | (d) The task force shall report its recommendations to the | ||||||
| 22 | Capital Development Board and the General Assembly, and upon | ||||||
| 23 | reporting its recommendations the task force is dissolved.

| 25 | Sec. 34-18.37. Press boxes; accessibility. The board does | ||||||
