1 AN ACT concerning civil law.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Code of Civil Procedure is amended by
5changing Section 2-1704 as follows:
6 (735 ILCS 5/2-1704) (from Ch. 110, par. 2-1704)
7 Sec. 2-1704. Medical Malpractice Action. As used in this
8Part, "medical malpractice action" means any action, whether
9in tort, contract or otherwise, in which the the plaintiff
10seeks damages for injuries or death by reason of medical,
11hospital, or other healing art malpractice. The term "healing
12art" shall not include care and treatment by spiritual means
13through prayer in accord with the tenets and practices of a
14recognized church or religious denomination.
