Bill Title: Creates the Thyroid Guard Act. Provides that a health care facility that conducts x-ray imaging must have a thyroid guard available and require personnel conducting the x-ray imaging to give a patient the option of using it, unless the thyroid guard would directly interfere with the ability of the personnel to obtain the x-ray imaging that was ordered.

SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
New Act

Creates the Thyroid Guard Act. Provides that a health care facility that conducts x-ray imaging must have a thyroid guard available and require personnel conducting the x-ray imaging to give a patient the option of using it, unless the thyroid guard would directly interfere with the ability of the personnel to obtain the x-ray imaging that was ordered.

1 AN ACT concerning health.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the
5Thyroid Guard Act.
6 Section 5. Definition. In this Act, "health care facility"
7has the same meaning provided in Section 3 of the Health Care
8Right of Conscience Act.
9 Section 10. X-rays; thyroid guard. Notwithstanding any
10other provision of law, a health care facility that conducts
11x-ray imaging must have a thyroid guard available and require
12personnel conducting the x-ray imaging to give a patient the
13option of using it, unless the thyroid guard would directly
14interfere with the ability of the personnel to obtain the
15x-ray imaging that was ordered.
