Bill Title: Amends the School Code. Provides that a school board shall prohibit any school of the district that has selective admission requirements from requiring a student in a pre-kindergarten program of the district to take a standardized test in order to be admitted to that school. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT concerning education.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections
510-20.73 and 34-18.67 as follows:
6 (105 ILCS 5/10-20.73 new)
7 Sec. 10-20.73. Selective admissions; standardized testing.
8A school board in a school district with 275,000 students or
9more shall prohibit any school of the district that has
10selective admission requirements from requiring a student in a
11pre-kindergarten program of the district to take a
12standardized test in order to be admitted to that school.
13 (105 ILCS 5/34-18.67 new)
14 Sec. 34-18.67. Selective admissions; standardized testing.
15The board shall prohibit any school of the district that has
16selective admission requirements from requiring a student in a
17pre-kindergarten program of the district to take a
18standardized test in order to be admitted to that school.
19 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
20becoming law.
