| 1 | AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 2901
| ||||||
| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 2901 by replacing | ||||||
| 3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following:
| ||||||
| 4 | "Section 5. The Pharmacy Practice Act is amended by | ||||||
| 5 | changing Section 8 as follows:
| ||||||
| 6 | (225 ILCS 85/8) (from Ch. 111, par. 4128)
| ||||||
| 7 | (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2018)
| ||||||
| 8 | Sec. 8. Licensure by endorsement; emergency licensure.
The
| ||||||
| 9 | The Department may, in its discretion, license
as a pharmacist, | ||||||
| 10 | without examination, on payment of the required fee,
an | ||||||
| 11 | applicant who is so licensed under the laws of another U.S. | ||||||
| 12 | jurisdiction
or another country, if the requirements for | ||||||
| 13 | licensure in the other
jurisdiction in which the applicant was | ||||||
| 14 | licensed, were, at the date
of his or her licensure deemed by | ||||||
| 15 | the Board to be substantially equivalent
to the requirements | ||||||
| 16 | then in force in this State. | ||||||

| 1 | A person holding an active, unencumbered license in good
| ||||||
| 2 | standing in another jurisdiction who applies for a license
| ||||||
| 3 | pursuant to Section 7 of this Act due to a natural disaster or
| ||||||
| 4 | catastrophic event in another jurisdiction may be temporarily
| ||||||
| 5 | authorized by the Secretary to practice pharmacy pending the
| ||||||
| 6 | issuance of the license. This temporary authorization shall | ||||||
| 7 | expire upon issuance of the license or upon notification that | ||||||
| 8 | the Department has denied licensure.
| ||||||
| 9 | Upon a declared Executive Order due to an emergency caused | ||||||
| 10 | by a natural or manmade disaster or any other exceptional | ||||||
| 11 | situation that causes an extraordinary demand for pharmacist | ||||||
| 12 | services, the Department may issue a pharmacist who holds a | ||||||
| 13 | license to practice pharmacy in another state an emergency | ||||||
| 14 | license to practice in this State.
