| 1 | AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 661
| ||||||
| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 661 on page 7, by | ||||||
| 3 | replacing lines 15 and 16 with the following:

| 4 | "hepatitis C virus screening and confirmatory testing when | ||||||
| 5 | ordered by an individual's primary care physician or | ||||||
| 6 | practitioner within the context of a primary care setting who | ||||||
| 7 | meet either of the following conditions: | ||||||
| 8 | (1) Adults at high risk for hepatitis C infection. | ||||||
| 9 | Repeat screenings for high risk persons are covered | ||||||
| 10 | annually only for persons who have had continued illicit | ||||||
| 11 | injection drug use since the prior negative screening test. | ||||||
| 12 | (2) Adults who are not high risk, but who were born on | ||||||
| 13 | or after January 1, 1945 through December 31, 1965. A | ||||||
| 14 | single, one-time screening test is covered for these | ||||||
| 15 | individuals. | ||||||
| 16 | As used in this Section, "high risk" is defined as persons | ||||||
| 17 | with a current or past history of illicit injection drug use | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | and persons who have a history of receiving a blood transfusion | ||||||
| 2 | prior to 1992.".
