| 1 | AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 460

| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 460 by replacing | ||||||
| 3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following:
| ||||||
| 4 | "Section 5. The Nurse Practice Act is amended by changing | ||||||
| 5 | Section 65-15 as follows:
| ||||||
| 6 | (225 ILCS 65/65-15) | ||||||
| 7 | (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2018)
| ||||||
| 8 | Sec. 65-15. Expiration of APN license; renewal. | ||||||
| 9 | (a) The expiration date and renewal period for each | ||||||
| 10 | advanced practice nurse license issued under this Act shall be | ||||||
| 11 | set by rule. The holder of a license may renew the license | ||||||
| 12 | during the month preceding the expiration date of the license | ||||||
| 13 | by paying the required fee. It is the responsibility of the | ||||||
| 14 | licensee to notify the Department in writing of a change of | ||||||
| 15 | address. | ||||||
| 16 | (b) On and after May 30, 2020, except as provided in | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | subsections (c) and (d) of this Section, each Each advanced | ||||||
| 2 | practice nurse is required to show proof of continued, current | ||||||
| 3 | national certification in the specialty.
| ||||||
| 4 | (c) An advanced practice nurse who does not meet the | ||||||
| 5 | educational requirements necessary to obtain national | ||||||
| 6 | certification but has continuously held an unencumbered | ||||||
| 7 | license under this Act since 2001 shall not be required to show | ||||||
| 8 | proof of national certification in the specialty to renew his | ||||||
| 9 | or her advanced practice nurse license. | ||||||
| 10 | (d) The Department may renew the license of an advanced | ||||||
| 11 | practice nurse who applies for renewal of his or her license on | ||||||
| 12 | or before May 30, 2016 and is unable to provide proof of | ||||||
| 13 | continued, current national certification in the specialty but | ||||||
| 14 | complies with all other renewal requirements. | ||||||
| 15 | (e) Any advanced practice nurse license renewed on and | ||||||
| 16 | after May 31, 2016 based on the changes made to this Section by | ||||||
| 17 | this amendatory Act of the 99th General Assembly shall be | ||||||
| 18 | retroactive to the expiration date. | ||||||

| 21 | becoming law.".
