AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 4281
AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 4281 by replacing
everything after the enacting clause with the following:
"Section 5. The Public Utilities Act is amended by adding
Sections 8-201.4 and 9-247 as follows:
(220 ILCS 5/8-201.4 new)
Sec. 8-201.4. Prohibition on use of utility name or logo
by non-utility entity. No non-utility individual, business, or
entity shall use a public utility name or logo, in whole or in
part, in any manner to a market or sell a non-utility product
or service. This prohibition does not apply to activities
permitted under Section 9-227.
(220 ILCS 5/9-247 new)
Sec. 9-247. Prohibition on including charges using the
utility name or logo on utility billing. No utility shall

include on a utility bill to a residential customer any
charges for any type of home insurance, maintenance, or
service product.".
