AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 4236
AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 4236 on page 5, by
replacing lines 5 through 9 with the following:
"elected to, an elective public office. Notwithstanding the
other provisions of this subsection (b-6), a person convicted
of: (1) a felony that is a sex offense; or (2) a felony in
which the victim of the offense is a peace officer, is
ineligible to be nominated for, and elected to, an elective
public office.
As used in this subsection (b-6):
"Elective public office" means an office for which a
person is elected that has been created by the Constitution of
this State, a law of this State, or a county or municipal
ordinance or referendum.
"Peace officer" has the meaning given the term in Section
2-13 of the Criminal Code of 2012.
"Sex offense" has the meaning given the term in Section 2
of the Sex Offender Registration Act.".
