| 1 | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1748
| ||||||
| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 1748 by replacing | ||||||
| 3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following:
| ||||||
| 4 | "Section 5. The Rescue Squad Districts Act is amended by | ||||||
| 5 | changing Section 8 as follows:
| ||||||
| 6 | (70 ILCS 2005/8) (from Ch. 85, par. 6858)
| ||||||
| 7 | Sec. 8.
The board of trustees of the district shall have | ||||||
| 8 | power to take all
necessary or proper steps to provide rescue | ||||||
| 9 | services
within the district;
to purchase equipment, supplies | ||||||
| 10 | and materials; to recruit rescue
squad
personnel, who shall be | ||||||
| 11 | compensated at a rate determined by the board of
trustees; and
| ||||||
| 12 | generally to do any and
all things necessary or incident to the | ||||||
| 13 | powers granted by this Act and to carry
out the objects of this | ||||||
| 14 | Act.
| ||||||
| 15 | Trustees appointed under to Section 6, or elected following | ||||||
| 16 | a conversion under Section 6.5, shall not be prohibited, | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | notwithstanding any law of the State to the contrary, from also | ||||||
| 2 | being members of the rescue squad for which they are serving as | ||||||
| 3 | trustees or from receiving compensation for such services, | ||||||
| 4 | provided that compensation provided to members who are trustees | ||||||
| 5 | is similar to compensation provided to members who are not | ||||||
| 6 | trustees. No law shall limit the amount of pay received by | ||||||
| 7 | trustees serving as member of a rescue squad, unless said law | ||||||
| 8 | applies to all members of the rescue squad without regard to | ||||||
| 9 | their membership on its board of trustees. | ||||||
