S.F. _____ Section 1. NEW SECTION . 279.70 Posting child abuse hotline 1 telephone number. 2 1. The board of directors of each public school shall post 3 at each attendance center in a clearly visible location in a 4 public area that is readily accessible to students a sign in 5 English and Spanish that contains the toll-free child abuse 6 telephone hotline number operated by the department of human 7 services. 8 2. Notwithstanding section 256F.4, subsection 2, a charter 9 school is subject to and shall comply with the requirements of 10 this section. 11 3. The state board of education shall adopt rules relating 12 to the size and location of the sign required under this 13 section. 14 EXPLANATION 15 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 16 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 17 This bill requires public schools, including charter 18 schools, to post at each attendance center in a clearly 19 visible location in a public area that is readily accessible 20 to students a sign in English and Spanish that contains the 21 toll-free child abuse telephone hotline number operated by the 22 department of human services.
