Iowa
high
school

and
who

becoming
an
adult
learner
enrolls
full-time
during

the
academic
year,
or
part-time
for
a
summer
semester,
in

an
eligible
program
at
an
eligible
institution
by
the
fall

semester,
or
the
equivalent,
following
graduation
from
high

school
or
completion
of
private
instruction
under
chapter

299A
;
or
is
an
adult
learner
who
is
at
least
age
twenty
at
the
10
beginning
of
the
state
fiscal
year,
who
has
received
a
high

school
diploma
or
a
high
school
equivalency
diploma,
and
who

enrolls
in
an
eligible
program
in
an
eligible
institution
as
a

full-time
or
part-time
student.

This
bill
expands
the
definition
of
“eligible
student”
under

the
future
ready
Iowa
skilled
workforce
last-dollar
scholarship

program
administered
by
the
college
student
aid
commission.

Current
law
limits
scholarship
eligibility
to
new
high
school
21
graduates
who
enroll
full-time
in
an
eligible
institution
by
22
the
fall
semester
following
graduation
or
completion
of
private
23
instruction,
and
to
adult
learners
who
enroll
full-time
or
24
part-time
in
an
eligible
institution.
The
bill
amends
the
25
definition
to
include
individuals
who,
following
high
school
26
graduation
or
completion
of
private
instruction
and
prior
to
27
becoming
an
adult
learner,
enroll
full-time
in
an
eligible
28
institution
for
a
regular
semester
or
part-time
for
a
summer
29
semester,
as
well
as
adult
learners
who
are
at
least
age
20
at
30
the
beginning
of
the
state
fiscal
year.
