is
amended
by
adding

the
following
new
subsection:

A
recipient
of
a
grant
under
subsection

may
receive
moneys
from
the
fund
for
expenses
the
recipient

incurs
during
the
fiscal
year
in
which
the
department
awards
5
the
grant
through
September
30
of
the
following
year.

Sec.
2.
APPLICABILITY.
This
Act
applies
to
grants
the
7
department
of
education
awards
from
the
computer
science
8
professional
development
incentive
fund
on
or
after
the
9
effective
date
of
this
Act.

EXPLANATION

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
12
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
relates
to
disbursements
from
the
computer
science
14
professional
development
incentive
fund.
15
Current
law
authorizes
the
department
of
education
16
to
award
grants
from
the
computer
science
professional
17
development
incentive
fund
to
school
districts,
accredited
18
nonpublic
schools,
and
area
education
agencies
to
provide
19
proven
professional
development
activities
for
teachers
in
20
the
area
of
computer
science
education.
Current
law
also
21
authorizes
the
department
to
award
grants
from
the
fund
to
22
school
districts
and
accredited
nonpublic
schools
to
provide
23
tuition
reimbursement
for
teachers
seeking
endorsements
or
24
authorizations
for
computer
science.
25
The
bill
provides
that
recipients
of
a
grant
from
the
fund
26
may
receive
moneys
for
expenses
incurred
during
the
fiscal
year
27
in
which
the
department
awards
the
grant
through
September
30
28
of
the
following
year.
29
The
bill
applies
to
grants
from
the
fund
on
or
after
the
30
effective
date
of
the
bill.
