1.
Section
53.11,
subsection
1,
paragraph
a,
Code
1
2017,
is
amended
to
read
as
follows:

a.
(1)
Satellite
absentee
voting
stations
may
be
3
established
throughout
the
cities
and
county
at
the
direction
4
of
the
commissioner
and
shall
be
established
upon
receipt
5
of
a
petition
signed
by
not
less
than
one
hundred
eligible
6
electors
requesting
that
a
satellite
absentee
voting
station
7
be
established
at
a
location
to
be
described
on
the
petition.

However,
if
For
a
petition
to
be
valid
under
this
section,
the
9
location
described
in
the
petition
must
be
physically
located
10
in
a
city
with
a
population
of
two
hundred
or
greater,
as
11
determined
by
the
most
recent
federal
decennial
census.

(2)
If
a
special
election
is
scheduled
in
the
county
on
a
13
date
that
falls
between
the
date
of
the
regular
city
election
14
and
the
date
of
the
city
runoff
election,
the
commissioner
is
15
not
required
to
establish
a
satellite
absentee
voting
station
16
for
the
city
runoff
election.

This
bill
relates
to
the
establishment
of
satellite
absentee

voting
stations.
The
bill
requires
that
for
a
petition
to
22
establish
a
satellite
absentee
voting
station
to
be
valid,
the
23
satellite
absentee
voting
station
location
described
in
the
24
petition
must
be
physically
located
in
a
city
with
a
population
25
of
200
or
greater.
