WHEREAS,
Senator
Randy
Feenstra,
born
and
raised
in
3
Hull,
Iowa,
while
being
a
devoted
husband
to
Lynette,
4
and
father
to
Taylor,
Erika,
Dawson,
and
Savannah,
5
has
also
been
involved
in
public
service
at
the
local
6
level
as
a
city
administrator,
county
treasurer,
and
7
emergency
medical
technician,
and
at
the
state
level
as
8
a
state
Senator
for
much
of
his
adult
life;
and
9
WHEREAS,
Senator
Feenstra,
who
received
his
10
Bachelor’s
Degree
from
Dordt
College
and
a
Master’s
11
Degree
in
Public
Administration
from
Iowa
State
12
University,
was
first
elected
to
the
Senate
in
2008,
13
and
has
served
the
citizens
of
Northwest
Iowa
for
14
three
terms
while
also
being
a
professor
of
business
15
administration
at
Dordt
University;
and
16
WHEREAS,
Senator
Feenstra
has
served
on
a
wide
17
array
of
legislative
committees,
including
serving
as
18
Chairperson
of
the
Senate
Ways
and
Means
Committee,
19
Co-chairperson
of
the
Tax
Expenditure
Committee,
and
on
20
the
Fiscal
Committee
of
the
General
Assembly;
and
21
WHEREAS,
Senator
Feenstra
currently
serves
on
the
22
Commerce,
Rules
and
Administration,
State
Government,
23
and
Ways
and
Means
committees,
and
on
the
Capital
24
Projects
Committee
of
the
Legislative
Council
and
the
25
Streamlined
Sales
and
Use
Tax
Agreement
Governing
26
Board;
and
27
WHEREAS,
Senator
Feenstra
has
also
served
the
people

on
numerous
boards
and
commissions
in
his
1
community,
including
college,
hospital,
civic,
and

church
boards;
and

WHEREAS,
Senator
Feenstra
has
long
championed
the

voice
of
Iowa’s
taxpayers
and
advocated
to
strengthen
5
accountability
to
those
taxpayers,
as
evidenced
by
6
his
efforts
working
for
passage
of
income
tax,
sales
7
tax,
and
property
tax
reforms;
passage
of
government
8
spending
limitations
and
oversight;
and
passage
of
9
legislation
that
empowers
the
taxpayers
and
businesses
10
of
Iowa;
and
11
WHEREAS,
Senator
Feenstra
has
been
recognized
with
12
the
Iowa
League
of
Cities
Legislative
Service
Award
in
13
2012,
the
Iowa
State
Community
Leadership
Award,
and
14
was
included
in
the
Sioux
City
Journal’s
List
of
top
15
leaders
in
Western
Iowa;
and
16
WHEREAS,
over
the
past
12
years
Senator
Feenstra
has
17
faced
many
difficult
issues
with
a
compassionate
heart
18
and
critical
eye
that
will
greatly
be
missed;
and
19
WHEREAS,
Senator
Feenstra
will
be
remembered
for
20
his
tireless
efforts
on
behalf
of
his
constituents
21
in
Sioux,
Lyon,
O’Brien,
Plymouth,
and
Cherokee
22
counties;
NOW
THEREFORE,

BE
IT
RESOLVED
BY
THE
SENATE,
That
the
Senate
honors
24
Senator
Randy
Feenstra
for
his
years
of
public
service
25
in
the
Iowa
General
Assembly
and
wishes
him
all
the
26
best
in
the
years
to
come.
