S.F. 65 Section 1. Section 256.51, subsection 1, Code 2011, is 1 amended by adding the following new paragraph: 2 NEW PARAGRAPH . l. Require a public library that receives 3 state funds to adopt a policy to restrict the content of video 4 materials a child under seventeen years of age may borrow from 5 the library to those video cassettes or digital video discs 6 that receive a G, PG, or PG-13 rating under the motion picture 7 association of America’s rating system. 8 EXPLANATION 9 This bill requires the division of libraries and information 10 services within the department of education to require a public 11 library that receives state funds to adopt a policy restricting 12 the content of video materials a child under 17 years of age 13 may borrow from the library. 14 -1- LSB 1700XS (3) 84 kh/nh 1/ 1
