Section
1.
Section
9.4,
Code
2021,
is
amended
to
read
as

follows:

9.4
Fees.

The
secretary
of
state
shall
collect
all
fees
directed
by

law
to
be
collected
by
the
secretary
of
state,
including
the
5
following:

1.
For
certificate,
with
seal
attached,
three
dollars.

2.
For
a
fee
to
be
determined
by
the
secretary
of
state
by
8
rule
adopted
pursuant
to
chapter
17A
for
a
copy
of
any
law
or
9
record
,
upon
the
request
of
any
person,
a
fee
to
be
determined
10
by
the
secretary
of
state
by
rule
adopted
pursuant
to
chapter
11
17A
.

Sec.
2.
Section
9F.3,
Code
2021,
is
amended
to
read
as
13
follows:

Certification
——
copies
.

When
certified
by
the
secretary
of
state
the
census
shall
be
16
in
full
force
and
effect
throughout
the
state.
On
payment
of
17
a
fee
of
two
dollars
by
a
requesting
party,
the
secretary
of
18
state
shall
furnish
a
certified
copy
of
the
whole
or
any
part
19
of
such
census
report.

Sec.
3.
REPEAL.
Section
9C.6,
Code
2021,
is
repealed.

EXPLANATION

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
23
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
relates
to
certain
fees
charged
by
the
secretary
25
of
state.
The
bill
removes
a
requirement
that
the
secretary
26
of
state
charge
$3
for
a
copy
of
a
certificate
with
a
seal
27
attached.
The
bill
also
repeals
a
provision
requiring
the
28
secretary
of
state
to
collect
a
fee
of
$25
per
day
prior
to
29
issuing
a
transient
merchant’s
license.
The
bill
additionally
30
strikes
a
provision
requiring
the
secretary
of
state
to
collect
31
a
fee
of
$2
prior
to
furnishing
a
certified
copy
of
the
federal
32
census
to
a
requester.
