The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
provides
for
an
exception
to
the
requirement
18
that
all
prescriptions
for
prescription
drugs
be
transmitted
19
electronically
as
an
electronic
prescription
to
a
pharmacy
by
20
a
prescriber
or
a
prescriber’s
authorized
agent.
Under
the
21
bill,
a
prescription,
including
a
controlled
substance,
that
22
will
be
dispensed
in
a
jurisdiction
outside
the
state
or
by
a
23
pharmacy
of
the
patient’s
choice
is
exempt
from
the
electronic
24
prescribing
requirement
if
the
prescription
is
an
original
25
signed
prescription
provided
to
a
patient
or
a
patient’s
26
authorized
representative.
The
written
prescription
is
subject
27
to
other
requirements
for
a
written
prescription
as
currently
28
provided
by
law.
