S.F. 26 Section 1. Section 321.285, subsection 5, paragraph a, Code 1 2019, is amended to read as follows: 2 a. Notwithstanding any other speed restrictions, the speed 3 limit for all vehicular traffic on fully controlled-access, 4 divided, multilaned highways is sixty-five miles per hour. 5 However, the speed limit for all vehicular traffic on highways 6 that are part of the interstate road system, as defined in 7 section 306.3 , is seventy seventy-five miles per hour. The 8 department may establish a speed limit of sixty-five miles per 9 hour on certain divided, multilaned highways not otherwise 10 described in this paragraph. 11 EXPLANATION 12 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 13 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 14 Under current law, the speed limit on highways that are part 15 of the interstate road system is 70 miles per hour.
