Senate File 2245 AN ACT REQUIRING A STUDY AND REPORT ON THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A DUAL DIAGNOSIS TREATMENT PROGRAM FOR POSTTRAUMATIC STRESS AT THE IOWA VETERANS HOME. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA: Section 1. IOWA VETERANS HOME —— POSTTRAUMATIC STRESS DUAL DIAGNOSIS TREATMENT PROGRAM STUDY. 1. The Iowa veterans home shall initiate and coordinate the establishment of a posttraumatic stress dual diagnosis treatment program study. The study shall evaluate possible funding sources, program structure, program requirements, and the needs for such a treatment program for veterans in this state. The study shall focus on the establishment of a dual diagnosis program for individuals seeking treatment for service-connected posttraumatic stress and substance abuse. 2. The commandant of the Iowa veterans home shall prepare a report for delivery to the department of veterans affairs, the commission of veterans affairs, the department of public health, the general assembly and the governor no later than January 15, 2013, regarding the establishment of a posttraumatic stress dual diagnosis treatment program at the Iowa veterans home. The report shall make recommendations to
