724.22,
subsection
5,
Code
2014,
is

amended
to
read
as
follows:

A
parent
or
guardian
or
spouse
who
is
twenty-one
years

of
age
or
older,
of
a
person
fourteen
twelve
years
of
age
but

less
than
twenty-one
may
allow
the
person
to
possess
a
pistol
5
or
revolver
or
the
ammunition
therefor
for
any
lawful
purpose
6
while
under
the
direct
supervision
of
the
parent
or
guardian
7
or
spouse
who
is
twenty-one
years
of
age
or
older,
or
while
the
8
person
receives
instruction
in
the
proper
use
thereof
from
an
9
instructor
twenty-one
years
of
age
or
older
,
with
the
consent

of
such
parent,
guardian
,
or
spouse.

Under
current
law,
a
person
14
years
of
age
but
less
than
21
15
years
of
age
may
possess
a
pistol
or
revolver
or
the
ammunition
16
for
the
pistol
or
revolver
for
any
lawful
purpose
while
under
17
the
direct
supervision
of
the
person’s
parent
or
guardian
or
18
spouse
who
is
21
years
of
age
or
older,
or
while
the
person
19
receives
instruction
in
the
proper
use
of
a
pistol
or
revolver
20
from
an
instructor
who
is
21
or
older
with
the
consent
of
such
21
parent,
guardian,
or
spouse.
The
bill
lowers
the
age
limit
for
22
the
person
to
possess
a
pistol
or
revolver
or
ammunition
under
23
these
circumstances
to
12
years
of
age.
Under
Code
section
24
724.22,
subsection
2,
a
person
who
violates
this
provision
25
commits
a
serious
misdemeanor
for
a
first
offense
and
a
class
26
“D”
felony
for
second
and
subsequent
offenses.
