EXPLANATION

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
allows
a
licensed
optometrist
to
administer
a
9
local
anesthetic
prior
to
a
minor
surgical
procedure
authorized
10
by
law.
Current
law
requires
a
licensed
optometrist
to
receive
11
approval
from
the
board
of
optometry
prior
to
administering
12
certain
injections.
