Substances
Act
in
Iowa.

WHEREAS,
the
General
Assembly
has
directed
the
Iowa
5
Department
of
Public
Health
to
request
guarantees
from
6
the
federal
government
that
educational
and
long-term
7
care
facilities
in
Iowa
with
policies
allowing
patients
8
to
possess
medical
cannabidiol
or
allowing
staff
to
9
administer
medical
cannabidiol
will
not
lose
federal
10
funding
due
to
such
policies;
and
11
WHEREAS,
the
Iowa
Department
of
Public
Health
may
12
accomplish
this
goal
by
seeking
an
exception
to
the
13
classification
of
cannabis
under
schedule
I
of
the
14
federal
Controlled
Substances
Act
in
Iowa
from
the
15
United
States
Drug
Enforcement
Administration
using
the
16
procedure
found
in
21
C.F.R.
ยง1307.03;
NOW
THEREFORE,

BE
IT
RESOLVED
BY
THE
SENATE,
THE
HOUSE
OF
18
REPRESENTATIVES
CONCURRING,
That
the
Iowa
General
19
Assembly
urges
the
United
States
Drug
Enforcement
20
Administration
to
grant
an
exception
to
the
21
classification
of
cannabis
under
schedule
I
of
the
22
federal
Controlled
Substances
Act
in
Iowa
requested
by
23
the
Iowa
Department
of
Public
Health
for
the
purpose
24
of
allowing
the
possession
and
administration
of
25
medical
cannabidiol
at
educational
and
long-term
care
26
facilities
in
Iowa;
and
27
