Notwithstanding
section
8.33
,
moneys
appropriated
pursuant

to
this
subsection
that
remain
unencumbered
or
unobligated
at

the
close
of
the
fiscal
year
shall
not
revert
but
shall
remain

available
for
expenditure
for
the
purposes
designated
until
the
11
close
of
the
succeeding
fiscal
year.
Any
moneys
appropriated
12
pursuant
to
this
subsection
that
remain
unencumbered
or
13
unobligated
after
the
completion
of
payments
under
section
14
256.25A,
subsection
1,
paragraph
“a”,
may
be
deposited
in
the
15
therapeutic
classroom
incentive
fund
created
in
section
256.25,

as
determined
by
the
department.

Sec.
2.
EFFECTIVE
DATE.
This
Act,
being
deemed
of
immediate
18
importance,
takes
effect
upon
enactment.

EXPLANATION
20
The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
21
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

For
FY
2023-2024,
the
general
assembly
appropriated
$500,000
23
to
the
department
of
education
for
payment
of
school
district
24
claims
for
transportation
reimbursement
submitted
in
connection
25
with
therapeutic
classroom
services.
This
bill
authorizes
the
26
deposit
of
moneys
that
remain
unencumbered
or
unobligated
after
27
the
completion
of
such
payments
into
the
therapeutic
classroom
28
incentive
fund
created
in
Code
section
256.25,
as
determined
29
by
the
department.
That
fund
is
used
to
distribute
grants
to
30
school
districts
under
the
therapeutic
classroom
incentive
31
grant
program.
