                    HOUSE RESOLUTION NO.

  1  1 A Resolution honoring the service of Eric Swanson with
  1  2    the Patriot Guard Riders.
  1  3    WHEREAS, the Patriot Guard Riders is a volunteer
  1  4 organization which serves and honors America's fallen
  1  5 military heroes, first responders, and honorably
  1  6 discharged veterans by attending the funeral services
  1  7 for fallen American heroes to honor their service,
  1  8 their families, and their communities, and to ensure
  1  9 the dignity and security of those services; and
  1 10    WHEREAS, the Patriot Guard Riders also serve
  1 11 veterans with special needs, their families, and the
  1 12 community through fundraising and service projects; and
  1 13    WHEREAS, Davenport resident Eric Swanson has served
  1 14 as a Patriot Guard Rider since 2005 and has been a
  1 15 Ride Captain since 2006, serving as a Ride Captain in
  1 16 Illinois and as a Senior Ride Captain in Iowa; and
  1 17    WHEREAS, Mr. Swanson served in the United States
  1 18 Marine Corps, including tours of duty in Vietnam from
  1 19 August 1969 to April 1973, and was awarded the Bronze
  1 20 Star and four Purple Hearts; and
  1 21    WHEREAS, Mr. Swanson leads over 100 Patriot Guard
  1 22 missions a year by notifying those involved with a
  1 23 funeral service, scouting a route, putting together the
  1 24 details of the ceremony, and leading the Patriot Guard
  1 25 to its destination; NOW THEREFORE,
  1 26    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
  1 27 That the House of Representatives honors Eric Swanson
  1 28 for his service as a Patriot Guard Ride Captain and
  2  1 for his continued service to Iowa's veterans and their
  2  2 communities; and
  2  3    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Chief Clerk of
  2  4 the House of Representatives is directed to prepare a
  2  5 suitable copy of this Resolution for presentation to
  2  6 Eric Swanson.
