Resolution
requesting

legislative
council

examinations

WHEREAS,
home
health
care
workers
provide
vital
5
in-home
assistance
to
Iowa’s
most
vulnerable
and
frail
6
population;
and
7
WHEREAS,
home
health
care
workers
are
in
close
and
8
constant
contact
with
these
clients,
risking
possible
9
contagion;
and
10
WHEREAS,
home
health
care
workers
are
currently
11
subject
to
a
“health
assessment”,
but
there
is
no
12
detailed
requirement
for
periodic
physical
examinations
13
or
health
screenings;
NOW
THEREFORE,
14
BE
IT
RESOLVED
BY
THE
HOUSE
OF
REPRESENTATIVES,
That
15
the
legislative
council
establish
an
interim
study
16
committee
to
examine
whether
the
current
requirements
17
for
physical
examinations
for
home
health
care
workers
18
are
sufficient
to
protect
the
health
of
the
home
health
19
care
workers
and
clients
and
the
committee
shall
issue
20
its
findings
and
recommendations
in
a
report
to
the
21
general
assembly
by
January
1,
2012.
