  1 1 A Resolution recognizing Iowa's commitment to affirming
1 2 Iowa's rural heritage and fair agricultural trade,

1 5 WHEREAS, the House of Representatives recognizes

1 10 WHEREAS, the House of Representatives recognizes
1 11 Iowa's rural heritage and the honest work ethic of
1 12 its rural residents, and declares its commitment to

1 17 WHEREAS, the House of Representatives finds and

2 3 and will cause substantial and immediate negative
2 4 consequences to the economies of this state, other farm
2 5 states, and this nation, which depend upon the export
2 6 of agricultural commodities including soybeans to world
  2 7 markets; and
2 8 WHEREAS, Iowa's process of fair and nonpartisan
2 9 redistricting has long been a model for the nation in
2 10 providing competitive districts that are not drawn for
2 11 purely partisan advantage; and
2 12 WHEREAS, the House of Representatives expresses
2 13 its strong support for maintaining Iowa's continuing
2 14 commitment to fair and nonpartisan redistricting; and
2 15 WHEREAS, Iowa has long recognized the importance of
2 16 those Iowans who serve the public by providing that
2 17 those Iowans may retire with dignity; and
2 18 WHEREAS, the House of Representatives expresses its
2 19 support in maintaining strong, stable, and well=funded
2 20 public retirement systems that ensure that promised
2 21 retirement benefits for public employees will be
2 22 available upon their retirement; NOW THEREFORE,
2 23 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
2 24 That the House of Representatives strongly affirms
2 25 its support for Iowa's rural heritage and commitment
2 26 to fair agricultural trade, fair and nonpartisan
2 27 redistricting, and retirement security for public
  2 28 employees.
